The Delian Mode will be in good company Monday Nov. 29, 2010. The film screens in conjunction with a special programme presented by Vancouver’s Standing Wave Ensemble. Friend and collaborator Nicole Lizée will join the ensemble on vintage electronic instruments for the premiere of her new piece Sculptress, an homage to Delia and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Also included in the programme are works by composers Missy Mazzoli, Sean Varah and Vern Griffiths.

We are very pleased to announce the inclusion of The Delian Mode on this year’s list of Genie Award nominees. The film is joined in the category of Best Short Documentary by co-producer Marie-Josée Saint Pierre’s animated doc Passages and Canadian film great Peter Mettler’s Petropolis. Watch for us on the red carpet April 12th!

The International Documentary Association hosts its annual Awards Gala on Dec. 4th in Los Angeles. The Delian Mode is one of four nominees in the Short Film category!

The Delian Mode was warmly received in the cold and rainy—yet still amazing—city of Copenhagen at the 2009 CPH:DOX festival. Some exciting highlights for the film included being projected inside a geodesic dome, a third screening added alongside Vincent Moon’s La Faute des fleurs and being given a special mention in the Sound and Vision Award category.

During the 38th Festival du Nouveau Cinema, there will plenty of chances to make a date with Delia, including screenings of the film on Oct. 9th (9:30pm at Cinéma du Parc) and Oct. 15th (3:15pm at Ex-Centris) and the not to be missed, Delia inspired sound and image event, Sines and Wonders on Oct. 10th. The Variety Guide to Film Festivals calls The Telluride Film Festival “the rarest jewel in the crown of the festival-going experience” and I think I would have to agree. It was truly a thrill to screen The Delian Mode amidst Telluride’s star-studded revelry of cinema.

In early June, The Delian Mode screened at the Femina International Women’s Film Festival in the marvelous city of Rio de Janeiro. Competing in the International category, The Delian Mode picked up the “Destaque Feminino” prize which, if all is not lost in translation, was awarded in recognition of the creative conceptualization used in presenting the story of an important female figure. Obrigada Brazil!
