The Delian Mode will be in good company Monday Nov. 29, 2010. The film screens in conjunction with a special programme presented by Vancouver’s Standing Wave Ensemble. Friend and collaborator Nicole Lizée will join the ensemble on vintage electronic instruments for the premiere of her new piece Sculptress, an homage to Delia and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Also included in the programme are works by composers Missy Mazzoli, Sean Varah and Vern Griffiths.

A full day event dedicated to celebrating Delia is in the works! The Delian Mode will screen as part of a symposium which will include guest speakers, a listening session of rare Derbyshire tracks and new commissioned musical works inspired by the Delia Derbyshire archives held at the University of Manchester. Director Kara Blake will be present to participate in a Q&A / panel discussion and to provide live visual accompaniment to the musical performances. We are very pleased to announce the inclusion of The Delian Mode on this year’s list of Genie Award nominees. The film is joined in the category of Best Short Documentary by co-producer Marie-Josée Saint Pierre’s animated doc Passages and Canadian film great Peter Mettler’s Petropolis. Watch for us on the red carpet April 12th!

The Delian Mode nominated for an IDA Award

The International Documentary Association hosts its annual Awards Gala on Dec. 4th in Los Angeles. The Delian Mode is one of four nominees in the Short Film category!

The Delian Mode was warmly received in the cold and rainy—yet still amazing—city of Copenhagen at the 2009 CPH:DOX festival. Some exciting highlights for the film included being projected inside a geodesic dome, a third screening added alongside Vincent Moon’s La Faute des fleurs and being given a special mention in the Sound and Vision Award category.

Into the Ether

Hot off the presses, The Delian Mode had its first screening at London’s Southbank Centre as part of the Ether Music Festival. Curated and introduced by participating performer Peaches, the film played to an enthusiastic audience of electronic music fans.
